APCOM launched a new round of fundraising under its APCOMpassion Emergency Fund in response to the urgent crisis facing LGBTQI+ communities across Asia and the Pacific following the US Administration’s decision to freeze foreign aid.
We leaned into our community to help kickstart this effort. Leading LGBTQI+ party organisers in the region, known for creating safe and vibrant spaces for the community, are partnering with APCOM to raise emergency funds for those hit hardest by the funding freeze, and ongoing funding cuts.
Many LGBTQI+ organisations and community clinics that rely on international support have been forced to cut services or close entirely, leaving people without access to life-saving medication, HIV treatment, prevention, mental health care, and other essential support.
“Community spaces are safe spaces where we can truly be ourselves, and our community is sadly under threat. We need all hands on deck to ensure the resilience of our country partners, and you can be a big part in championing the health, rights and wellbeing of our communities in Asia and the Pacific.”
