Suriya Phongphunngam (Bobo) [He/Him]
Communications Officer
APCOM Foundation
Thailand
Bobo is Communications Officer at the APCOM Secretariat in Bangkok and the driving force behind testBKK content under the CODE Strategies project. Through articles, social campaigns and creative activations, Bobo has helped make sexual health information accessible — and fun — for Bangkok’s LGBTQI+ communities.

“Joining the testBKK project has opened so many new opportunities for me. As someone who recently became part of this project, I’ve had the chance to contribute to meaningful work while also stepping into well-known regional platforms where I can learn, connect, and share APCOM’s work with wider audiences. I’m grateful for the trust and the opportunity to grow through this journey. Thank you to the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) for supporting this project and making these opportunities possible for our team and the communities we serve.”
As part of the CODE Strategies project, Bobo and the testBKK team have run one of the region’s highest-reach community-led demand generation campaigns for HIV testing and PrEP.
Highlights include:
Promoting nine clinics in the Bangkok area and channelling online audiences into booking HIV testing services.
- Researching, drafting and publishing 22 long-form knowledge articles on testBKK.org — covering sexual health, HIV prevention, LGBTQI+ rights and harm reduction — attracting more than 17,700 views in a single quarter.
- Producing 282 social posts across Facebook, Instagram and X in one quarter, alongside fortnightly TikTok drops that gathered over 1 million views.
- Reaching 373,516 people on social media in one campaign period, with 12,000 engagements, and distributing 1,719 party packs to gay men and other MSM.
- Running online self-assessments through social media, dating apps and messaging platforms — 645 respondents for mpox risk and 807 for HIV prevention — and campaigns promoting PrEP, PEP, DoxyPEP and condom use.
