COVID-19 in Thailand, Clinics Dealing with a Third Wave

By April 23, 2021 Newsroom, Prevention

Despite doing relatively well for Covid-19 control in Thailand, we are still being reminded the real danger of the disease even though at one point we had around 6 months of 0 cases of COVID-19. April is now Thailand’s third outbreak and poses new threat that is different from the 2020 COVID-19 strain. The strain that Thailand currently handling is the infamous B.1.1.7 strain. It is 40-70% more contagious from the original variant, where it has developed it spike protein to have stronger bond with our cells and it lingers in our body longer making that person could transmit longer than the previous strain. Making this outbreak the most severe Thailand ever face, with new cases over thousand people each day, people mobility is being restricted like the previous lockdown. On 23 April, Thailand has 50,189 cases, and 121 deaths.
With increased restrictions our partner clinics are still operating within restricted hour. If you need to
