Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, the former president of the Republic of Fiji, will be joining HIV financing experts and community advocates in one of APCOM’s AIDS 2016 sessions titled No Money No Honey: Investing in MSM and community-led interventions to end AIDS in Asia by 2030.
Crafted in a talk show format, No Money No Honey will take place in UNAIDS Community Dialogue Space of the Conference, July 18, from 5PM to 6PM. Facilitated by APCOM’s Senior Advocacy Officer Inad Rendon, the session aims to highlight the critical state of MSM epidemic and the drastic gaps in investment witnessed across the developing regions, as well as to discuss the barriers and strategies to increase the political commitments and investment for the affected key population such as gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM).
To ignite the discussion, Mr. Ratu Epeli will deliver an overview of Fiji’s financing context on its national and community HIV response. Sitting on the panel with Mr. Ratu Epeli are AFAO Executive Director Darryl O’Donell, HIV/AIDS Alliance’s Regional Representative for Latin America and Caribbean Javier Bellocq, Nepal’s Blue Diamond Society’s Programme Officer Bishwaraj Adhikari and APCOM’s Advocacy and Programme Unit Manager Shankar Silmula.
The session is surely not to be missed given how the most recent adopted Political Declaration from UN High-Level Meeting on Ending AIDS may cultivate many financial shortcomings in combatting HIV.
