By November 22, 2018 Showcase

International and local performers are set to shine while guests vie for US$30,000 worth of auction bargains at the 2018 HERO Awards, a special LGBT World AIDS Day gala at Bangkok’s British Embassy on Friday 30 November.

Standing for HIV, Equality and Rights, the HERO Awards is an annual event in Bangkok which acknowledges outstanding service to the HIV response in Asia and the Pacific, and to the region’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.

As well as being inspired by the work of community heroes, guests at the event will enjoy performances by one of Australia’s leading entertainers Deni Hines as well as one of Thailand’s best-known drag performers the fabulous Pangina Heals. Popular local DJ Yui Truluv will keep guests entertained with a fun set of cool contemporary and classic tunes. The event will be hosted by Voice TV personalities Lakkana Punwichai (Kham Paka) and Joe Chonlawit.

25 finalists from across the region will gather together with up to 300 guests in the historic Ambassador’s residence at the British Embassy for the annual fundraiser for the Bangkok-based APCOM Foundation, a leading NGO which works to fight HIV and advance LGBT health and rights across the Asia Pacific region. The Awards are being supported by a range of corporate sponsors, community organisations and diplomatic missions.

Taking place in the grand surrounds of the Ambassador’s residence, guests will delight in various themed rooms throughout the residence as well as a glittering outdoor theatre in the embassy garden where the extraordinary work of the 25 heroes will be showcased during an inspirational awards ceremony.

The glamourous gala will also include a cocktail reception with delicious SO Sofitel canapes accompanied by fine wines and premium beer, all generously donated by the event’s embassy partners. Ben & Jerry’s is providing special ice-cream desserts. There’ll also be an exciting fundraising auction with over US$30,000 worth of holidays, fashion, art and dining up for grabs at bargain prices.

As well as attracting key community representatives from across the region, the event will also be attended by high profile members of Bangkok’s diplomatic, corporate, and entertainment sectors. Tickets are limited. To book please visit: www.HEROawards.asia
