Empowering Key Population and LGBTQ+ Communities Through Data-Driven Health Advocacy

KeyPop is a groundbreaking mobile application designed specifically for LGBTQ+ and key populations across the Asia-Pacific region. Developed by APCOM in collaboration with community partners, and with the kind support from the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).

“The KeyPop app empowers users to record their health responses, participate in surveys, and contribute to data that strengthen community-led health advocacy, and we’re very happy to launch the app ahead of our upcoming APCOM Community Summit,5- 7 November,”
commented Midnight, APCOM Executive Director.

Through this tool, communities can better understand and address the social and structural factors affecting their health and access to services.
This innovative, evidence-informed mechanism supports clients and service providers in identifying and addressing local challenges in service accessibility and quality, particularly for marginalised communities.
The KeyPop App technical workshop will take place during the APCOM Pre-Community Summit on 4 November 2025, featuring a presentation and live demo by the app’s developer, as well as interactive discussions with community participants.

Additionally, the app’s role in advancing community-led interventions, research, and monitoring will be highlighted during a broader discussion at Roundtable 4: Community-Led Interventions, Research and Monitoring on Day 2, 6 November 2025. This high-level session will explore challenges, gaps, and commitments to ensuring community leadership in PrEP programmes, from demand generation and service delivery to advocacy, research and community-led monitoring (CLM).
Now available on Android via the Google Play Store, KeyPop introduces new ways for users to safely and securely share experiences that inform national and regional HIV and LGBTQ+ health programs. The app features user registration, integrated Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) tools, and modules already active in Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, the Philippines and India.
As we continue the pilot testing, APCOM is inviting community members, organisations, and networks to be part of this exciting next phase. Your feedback will help us shape the app’s upcoming features, including data visualisation dashboards and service-mapping functions, ensuring KeyPop remains responsive to community needs.
If you or your network would like to participate in the pilot rollout or learn more about how KeyPop can support your community’s work, please write to [email protected]. Together, we can build a digital ecosystem that drives health equity and amplifies LGBTQ+ community voices across the region.
