Representatives from Thailand’s corporate and business sector attended a recent event in Bangkok focused on improving the inclusion of LGBTIQ people in the workplace.
An initiative of APCOM and produced in association with the Australian Embassy in Bangkok, the Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Seminar was a satellite event of November’s annual Asia Pacific HERO Awards honouring HIV and LGBTI-related community service.
Held at the Australian Embassy, speakers included APCOM Ambassador and LGBTI rights campaigner The Hon. Michael Kirby, Thai Government representatives and senior executives from Facebook, IKEA, IBM, Linfox and Baker McKenzie.

Speakers provided insights on the business case and ethical imperative for being more inclusive and supportive of LGBTIQ people in workplaces as well as the important impact that the corporate and business sector can have on improving equality, social justice and health outcomes for LGBTIQ people and communities across the Asia Pacific region.
Participants were encouraged to develop LGBTI employee networks to help LGBTI employees connect with and support each other as well as increase the profile of LGBTI people in an organisation.
