Introducing Mainline’s Chemsex website and Harm Reduction School

By June 25, 2024 Newsroom

Mainline is a harm reduction NGO based in the Netherlands. Its mission is to advance the rights, health and well-being of people who use drugs, with respect for the freedom of choice and the human potential of the individual. One of the organisation’s cornerstones is capacity strengthening of grassroots organisations working with and/or led by people who use drugs, in the Netherlands and around the world, both in-person and online.

Harm reduction aims to restore human dignity and improve the quality of life of people who use drugs. In this spirit, Mainline focuses on preventing or reducing harm related to drug use through a pragmatic approach that does not condemn the use of drugs. Quitting is never a prerequisite for support.

Mainline’s Harm Reduction School offers a collection of affordable, fun and interactive online courses, supporting people in developing their knowledge and skills in harm reduction. All e-courses in the Harm Reduction School reflect the principle of promoting harm reduction as a humane and evidence-based approach and all courses can  be extended with face-to-face training.

Over the years, Mainline has built extensive experience in the chemsex scene, mainly working with men who have sex with men under the influence of drugs, for whom the organisation has created their Chemsex website. This website offers objective information on sex under the influence of drugs, for anyone looking to limit harm, use drugs in a controlled manner, quit or remain sober. The site features information on drugs and sex, harm reduction tips, experiential accounts and support. Besides, Mainline is completing an assessment on sexualised drug use among transgender people who use drugs and works with partners in several countries, addressing sexualised drug use among people who sell sex and young people.
