MP of Move Forward Party announces Get Ready for #ThailandPride2024 as the Thailand Pride Committee is publicized at APCOM’s 7th HERO Awards

MP Thanyawat Kamolwongwat (aka Kru Than) of Move Forward Party, congratulates the Thailand Pride Committee on the preparation to organize the 1 June Thailand Pride 2024, under the concept ‘Pride Together’. 

Kru Than attended the annual APCOM’s 7th Hero Award 2023 ceremony, hosted by the German Embassy in Bangkok, under the concept of “Forward Together” to “honour the outstanding work of people working in the issues of HIV, and promoting equal rights for LGBTQI people Asia and the Pacific region” held at the Sukosol Bangkok Hotel on 24 November 2024. 

“I’m very pleased to see the working group for the Thailand Pride Committee to organise the up-coming Thailand Pride 2024 during the start of the Pride Month on 1 June.”

Kru Than commented and continued,

“The Thailand Pride Committee is an alliance of independent network organizations and strong communities that have been working for a long time to advance the human rights of people with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, expression and sex characteristics.” 

At the heart of the Thailand Pride Committee is to ensure community engagement by talking with networks from all over the country to prepare for June next year, during the Pride Month to representatives from 77 provinces joining the march on 1 June 2024, under the banner #PRIDETOGETHER.

From the discussions with the Thailand Pride Committee, it has developed a draft guidelines for the Pride Constitution based on the principle of accountability and transparency, and with equal participation from all parties, including the government, political sector, private sector, and non-profit organizations. The Pride Constitution aims to strengthen and sustain the work of the LGBTQI organizations.  

The Thailand Pride Committee consists of Wattana Kiangpa, Chanan Yodhong, Kan Kulattaphinya, Pongpong Jaiyai, Nikorn Chimkhong, Kittinan Thomathat, Phitsanu. Wat Singchai, Sasin Phusong and the Committee are ready and open to talking with all sectors to work together for the #ThailandPride2024. 

APCOM, a member of InterPride, is proud to have been invited to be a member of the Thailand Pride Committee and is presented by Wattana Keiangpa, APCOM Foundation Secretary. “It is an honour to be part of the Committee to work on #PRIDETOGETHER on 1 June next year. We really want to ensure that our LGBTQI and HIV community can all benefit from #PRIDETOGETHER, and that our collective community is working together for equality.”
