Introducing Dash Heath-Paynter as CEO of Health Equity Matters

Health Equity Matters is pleased to announce the appointment of Dash Heath-Paynter as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Dash has been Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Health Equity Matters (formerly AFAO) since July 2016 where he has held significant responsibility for Health Equity Matters’ domestic program of work, including policy development and political advocacy and engagement. He led advocacy and national community response to Mpox and co-chaired the National Mpox Taskforce.

In terms of National advocacy, amongst many other things, Dash is currently a member of the National HIV PrEP Guidelines Committee; a member of the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) PICO Advisory Sub-Committee (PASC); a member of the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) Advertising Consultative Committee; and a member of the National HIV Testing Policy Expert Reference Committee. Dash is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Kirby Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New South Wales

Prior to joining Health Equity Matters’ Dash was a policy manager at cohealth, a not for profit providing community health services; and was a senior policy analyst at what was the Victorian AIDS Council, now Thorne Harbour Health.

Dash holds Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees, and is a graduate of the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Executive Leadership Program.

Health Equity Matters, as LGBTIQA+ health federation, is committed to provide leadership, coordination and support to Australia’s policy and advocacy response to HIV, as well as community-led HIV responses in the region. Dash’s extensive policy and advocacy experience, and deep knowledge of Health Equity Matters’ communities will ensure every opportunity is taken to achieve health equity for our communities domestically and regionally; the communities we serve.
